Our Story

Founder, Sheila Hawkins-Bucklew

The Human Connection

Sheila Hawkins-Bucklew is a creative entrepreneur whose journey has been woven together with a common thread: the empowerment of women. She is a proponent of equality and women’s rights, something she has held close to her heart throughout her career. Sheila started her retail career at the age of fifteen as the "Talking Christmas Tree" for a major department store in Pittsburgh, Pa. In this position she interacted with people who wanted to connect, to share their experiences, tell their stories and belong to a "like-minded" community. At the core of their exchange they were looking for a deeper connection with the world around them.

The Human Experience

Founder, Sheila Hawkins-Bucklew envisioned a jewelry company that celebrated “Individual Style and embraced “Authentic Living!”  Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs creates ear, arm and neckpieces using contemporary and vintage chains, natural stones and earth crystals.

As a company, customers want to know who you are, what you stand for and what that means for them. At Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs, jewelry is the product that they make but it is not necessarily the business they are in, what they provide for their followers is something much more. Their jewelry design’s are a symbolic representation of self-discovery reflective of the human experience. This unique relationship between their jewelry pieces and their customers is what sets them apart from other jewelry companies.

Human Self-Expression

After college Sheila worked in retail buying, store management and for a men’s accessory manufacturer. During this time she became aware of the power of fashion and how it could be a vehicle for self-expression. She also realized how this type of self-expression could foster a positive environment for individual empowerment. How enlightened women could consciously choose to dress based on their body-type and individual style, exchanging quick fashion-trends for a more authentic form of style-identity.

Human Empowerment

As a woman in the corporate workforce, Sheila experienced the harsh realities of unequal pay and glass-ceilings however, as a business owner she quickly gained control over both her earning power and career development. This freeing realization inspired her to want to help enlighten other women and share the potential benefits entrepreneurship has to offer.  With this in mind, Sheila started the Hawkins Bucklew Foundation to share her business knowledge, personal experiences and to connect with a community of "like-minded" women wanting to empower other women in the local community. Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs was launched as the face of this vision and the financial arm that drives it’s programs and services. These two Hawkins Bucklew ventures tie perfectly together the common threads of Sheila’s creativity, business expertise and passion to help the underserved.

In Her Own Words

We all have a story to tell. Our life’s journey is uniquely our own with individual lessons to learn. I am thankful for the tests I have endured, for without them I would not be where I am today. In this moment, I am exactly where I am supposed to be!  Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs is a self-expression of my spiritual footprint.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my spiritual journey through creative expression in jewelry design!

Peace & Blessings,

Sheila Hawkins-Bucklew

Our Company

Our Company Pillars

At the heart of Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs are three company pillars: Individual Style, Self-Discovery and Empowerment.

Individual Style

Sheila understands that there’s a social standard of what’s considered “normal” however, her desire is for people to authentically embrace who they are in their current “state of being.” She wants those customers who wear her jewelry to choose pieces that speak to their spirit and reflect who they are as an individual.

Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs is the result of Sheila’s personal self-discovery.  She believes that we all seek to uncover our life’s purpose and to utilize our individual gifts. It was this spiritual journey that led her to jewelry design. As a result of her exploration she was guided to her calling as a jewelry designer and knows this to be her personal form of self-expresion: her spiritual footprint.  In a similar way, she believes that those who resonate with Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs will also be in a place of spiritual and personal self-discovery, using her jewelry as a symbolic representation of self-idendentity and empowerment.

At this time in her career Sheila is focused on a greater purpose that will directly impact the community as a whole. Her desire is for Hawkins Bucklew Handcrafted Jewelry Designs, through the Hawkins Bucklew Foundation to empower underserved women through their Social Business Initiative.

A New Tomorrow is a Professional Development Workshop targeted to provide underserved women in the local community a creative opportunity which is rooted in an entrepreneurial environment that is both spiritually uplifting and economically empowering.
